March 23 - 27
Kindergarteners come to the lab this week.
The weeks since Presidents' Week have included a number of assessment activities.
First, the first through sixth grade students completed the reading assessments in Accelerated Reader. These are replacing the Dibels and the data will be used by teachers to evaluate students' progress in reading.
Next, all third through sixth grade students tried the SBAC practice Math Performance test. This part of the SBAC testing has to do with practical math and involves reading a lot of information and then doing several problems. We want to be sure our students understand to read all of the information and then to take things one step at a time.
This week, the third through sixth grade students will try the SBAC language arts practice test.
We are not spending huge amounts of time in computer lab preparing for the SBAC testing. We are, however, making sure the students are familiar with the test format and tools. We want them to be comfortable and confident and have every chance for success.
All upper grade students are continuing typing practice. We've done some work on Women's History Month to practice research skills. Younger students have done math and reading practice to support classroom learning.

Additionally, most first and second graders have been doing the AR reading assessments. These are the new reading assessments for the district and we're trying out all the various options so teachers will know how to use the information.
